Another Great Musculoskeletal Herb
...and my favourite easy hummus recipe
Hi Beautiful Beings,
There is so much life and vitality everywhere I look these days. And so many plants to share with you over the coming months. This week’s plant is Horsetail ~ Equisetum arvense. Another amazingly powerful plant to help support musculoskeletal health and healing. It’s a mineralizing nutritive tonic that’s high in silica, making it a very important medicine to get to know. Check out my post on it HERE.
It’s rose and peony season! There is something so lush and delicious about them both and they often arrive together in my garden as though they want to belong together in the same vase on my table. I have been enamoured by the beautiful bouquets my dear friend, florist and flower farmer - Heide has been creating over the past few weeks. If you live near Kincardine or are ever up that way check it out. You can find a link to her IG feed HERE.

The roses and peonies are early this year, as are many things. No doubt a reflection of the mild winter we have had. Just last week with the full moon, the wheat headed as if overnight. Only 6 weeks and it will most likely be ready for harvest. Wow, before you know it the hot days of summer will be upon us.
With summer almost here, I find myself gravitating more to quick meals featuring raw vegetables and one of my favourites for a quick meal or snack is hummus. You can find my recipe for easy hummus HERE. Although hummus is readily available at most grocery stores, the quality of oil used is not one that best supports our health. For a little reminder about the importance of using quality fats and oils for health see my previous post on fat and oils HERE.
This week I paired hummus with some carrot sticks and garden fresh radishes and young chickweed. Chickweed is such a delicious Spring green to include in our diets. Mild tasting, its a great Spring tonic that supports elimination and lymphatic drainage. And don’t miss Spring radish season. Radishes are great for the liver!
It looks like we are heading into some beautiful weather. I hope you are able to create space in your days to enjoy the beauty and vitality of this time of year.
See you next week!
Much love 💜 Jacinta
Easy Hummus Recipe
I love hummus. It makes a quick and delicious meal or snack and is so easy to make on your own if you have a food processor. It’s one of my favourite ways to get lots of quality olive oil into my diet, which means it really is best to make it yourself - so that you can control the quality…
Spring Horsetail
Spring horsetail (Equisetum arvense), also called common or field horsetail or bottlebrush, is a perennial of a very old and prehistoric class of plants that reproduce by spores rather than seeds. Horsetail is a mineralizing nutritive tonic high in silica that grows abundantly in wet and sandy places in this region. It is best harvested in the Spring an…
